Swim Lessons & Swim Team

LEADING THE WAY SINCE 1909

The Y introduced the country to group swim lessons over 110 years ago in 1909. Now, as one of the largest community-based organizations in the country, we teach more than a million children, especially those most at-risk of drowning, invaluable water safety and swimming skills each year. We offer a wide selection of classes for all ages that build strong and confident swimmers. Our approach uses a problem-solving, guided-discovery teaching approach in a positive, caring environment. See below to explore each stage!

All age groups are taught the same skills, but divided according to their developmental milestones.

Our private swim lessons are scheduled based on your availability and your specific goals.  Beginner to Advanced to Master Swimmer.

Register at the Maquoketa YMCA Welcome Center.

CLICK HERE for more information on the Maquoketa Marlins Swim Team

The Maquoketa Area Family YMCA swim team is open to YMCA members aged 6-18 who are able to swim the length of the pool, this is not swimming lessons.

The Maquoketa Marlins is a great opportunity for kids to swim at a competitive level with other YMCAs and improve their swim skills in an environment that builds healthy spirit, mind, and body.

The summer swim season runs from early June through late July and the winter swim season runs from November through February. Swimmers will have a chance to swim in a sectional meet and possibly qualify for a state meet at the end of the season. The Maquoketa Marlins swim team is a lot of fun for any youth that enjoys swimming!
