New North Scott YMCA River Otters Swim Team

  • A great way to take your swimming to the next level

  • Multiple levels for many abilities

 

Group Level Descriptions

Developmental: beginners learning all 4 strokes

Bronze: can swim all four strokes legally (coach to determine), but needs work on small details (flip turns, swimming longer than 50’s and 100’s)

Silver: intermediate group. Practices start mimicking workouts and starts competing in 200’s

Gold: advanced group. Warm ups and cool downs are 500’s or more.

Platinum-advanced group: Qualifies for state in multiple events and swims 500 or longer in meets

Elite-most advanced group: Swimmers in this group will be pushed to qualify for regionals/nationals.

River Otters Practice times: 

Developmental– 6:15-7:00 PM MWF
Bronze – 5:15-6:15 MWF
Silver – 5:15-6:30- MWF and Saturdays 9:15-10 AM
Gold – 7:00-8:30 MWF and Saturdays 9:15-10 AM
Senior – 7:00-8:30 MWF and Saturdays 8:00-9:15 AM
Platinum and Elite – 6:30-8:30 MWF and Saturdays 8:00-9:15 AM

North YMCA Dragons Swim Team

  • Coach RL and his team are skilled at developing a passion for the sport of swimming for kids, and teaching the skills and techniques to be champions and high-level athletes beyond the high school level.

The YMCA of the Iowa Mississippi Valley Swim Team – The Dragons – mixes great instruction and competitive opportunity with the YMCA emphasis on Core Values and leadership skills.

Our coaches focus on improving swim technique, building endurance, and increasing swim speed, while having fun! In addition to promoting healthy living, self-esteem, and confidence, the YMCA IMV Dragons build friendships that will last a lifetime. As a coaching staff we help swimmers set personal goals, then work hard to help them accomplish those goals.

The YMCA IMV Dragons Swim Team practices out of our North Branch.

The North Family YMCA is located at 624 W. 53rd St., Davenport IA 52806.

Practice Times

Green Group — $55/month, 5:30-6:30 PM  Monday- Friday

Swimmers must be able to swim the length of the pool (25 yards) without any help or flotation.  This group focuses on learning technique of the swimming strokes and building endurance.

Blue Group — $60/month, 5:30-6:30 PM  Monday- Friday

This group will focus on swimming drills that improve stroke mechanics and build swimming strength.

Red Group — $75/month, 6:30-8:00 PM  Monday—Thursday & 5:30-7:00 PM Friday

This group is for experienced swimmers and focus is on building swim speed through good technique.

Gold Group — $90/month, 6:30-8:00 PM  Monday—Thursday & 5:30-7:00 PM Friday

This group is for elite swimmers ages 13 and over. Swimmers at this level are aiming to compete in State and Regional swim meets.
